<p><strong>Overview</strong></p>
<p>Serve as a Systems Administrator participating in all aspects of configuration, administration, and maintenance of MS Active Directory, Exchange 03/07/10, Windows 2003/2008 servers, VMware ESX servers, Cisco network equipment, server backups and other applications, components, etc.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for installing, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting computer communication networks</li>
<li>Perform installations, repair and preventative maintenance of physical servers and VM server environment</li>
<li>Exchange server administration and maintenance</li>
<li>Maintain Windows 2003, 2008 servers including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File Servers</li>
<li>Monitor and maintain LAN/WAN equipment</li>
<li>Maintain SAN environment</li>
<li>Schedule, perform and monitor all server backups</li>
<li>Maintain email firewall/Spam filter</li>
<li>Serve as the point of contact for all customer issues, coordinate implementation and maintenance issues</li>
<li>Serve as project manager/team leader on assigned projects</li>
<li>Assist with the overall procurement process by specifying network hardware and software and obtaining vendor quotes</li>
<li>Assist with the establishment of network security policies</li>
<li>Support networking efforts with other agencies and organizations via wide area networks (WANs) and the Internet as assigned</li>
<li>Install and maintain networked desktop/laptop computers, servers, networks, and associated networked peripheral equipment</li>
<li>May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience</li>
<li>5+ years as a Systems/Network Administrator</li>
<li>5+ years network engineering experience (Cisco ASA, VPN, WAN/LAN)</li>
<li>5+ years of physical server administration including Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and DFS</li>
<li>5+ years hands on experience maintaining MS Exchange email environment with experience maintaining Exchange 2010</li>
<li>3+ years working with VMWare products to include: ESX (3-5), vCenter Server 4-5, vSphere vCenter and Veeeam Backup</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of RAID, Fault Tolerance and DR strategies and experience maintaining a SAN (Dell EqualLogic)</li>
<li>Experience administrating IIS web servers and MS SQL database servers</li>
<li>Experience configuring and maintaining email firewall/spam filters</li>
<li>MCSE preferred</li>
<li>Highly self-motivated individual who has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment</li>
<li>Ability to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing and delivering results on time</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to think strategically with technical vision</li>
<li>Attention to detail and strong organizational skills</li>
<li>Have exceptional customer service skills, and a positive “can-do” attitude</li>
<li>Professionally respond to telephone calls, emails, and web-based service requests</li>
<li>Provide friendly, courteous and quality support for clients</li>
<li>Must be accessible by phone or email outside normal business hours</li>

<strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2012 New Year’s Resolutions for Business Computers</span></strong></p>
<p>I, Billy Backup, hereby resolve to backup my company&#8217;s data files on a daily basis to ensure that essential business functions are uninterrupted. Debra Disaster Recovery and I will make preparations in advance to minimize loss and ensure continuity of business operations when disaster strikes.</p>
<p>I, Vincent Virus, hereby resolve to make sure that every computer in my company has anti-virus software installed and that the virus definitions are updated at least once a week.</p>
<p>I, Sam Spyware, hereby resolve to regularly scan every computer in my company for software that collects and reports information about my company to a third party without my informed consent.</p>
<p>I, Sally Security, hereby resolve to perform a review of my company&#8217;s security policy in order to prevent Steve Snoop and Debbie Disgruntled from having access to privileged information.</p>
<p>I, Ike Internet, hereby resolve to review my company&#8217;s Internet access policies and thereby keep Dave Download from spending all of his time and my bandwidth downloading old Elvis songs.</p>
<p>I, E. Legal, hereby resolve to conduct a software audit of my business to verify that all of my business software is legal and thereby avoid potentially huge fines for using pirated software.</p>
<p>I, Ned Network, hereby resolve to finally get rid of all my old 10/100 megabit hubs and replace them with 1000 megabit switches, thereby turning my company network into a speed demon.</p>
<p>I, Dan Defrag, hereby resolve to keep my systems running at peak efficiency by running system maintenance tools such as defrag and scandisk at least once a month.</p>
<p>I, Cutting-Edge Carl, hereby resolve to make the necessary investment to keep system equipment updated and running at maximum efficiency. I refuse to allow old equipment to interfere with my business success.</p>
<p>I, Nathaniel Need Help, hereby resolve to enlist the professional assistance of a quality IT technician when I do not have the time or skills necessary to maintain my network. I will embrace my right to expect excellence in a service that I am paying for. My technician shall respond promptly, maintain superior work ethic, fix my computer problems right the FIRST time, treat me with respect, and speak in plain English rather than in “tech talk.”</p>
